Welcome!
This portion of ScriptingAnswers.com is used to collect and organize all the content that we feel is most essential - the things we find people asking for again and again. There are two broad areas for the content stored here: Scripts and Templates and Easy Explanations.
Scripts and Templates are all the frequently-requested scripts that do all the things you’re always needing to do - enumerate directory users, connect to WMI, and so forth. Each script is annotated so that you can understand how to modify it to suit your needs, and we’ve attached the non-annotated script in a file for easy downloading. None of these scripts are contributed by the general public; we’ve elected to limit the scripts included here so that everything stays well-organized and of consistent quality. If you’re looking for scripts shared by members of the community, check out the Discussion Zone - we have a specific script-sharing forum.
Easy Explanations are a kind of extended FAQ, where we explain some of the most frequently-requested things about scripting using the simplest, clearest explanations we can write. You’re welcome to suggest topics by e-mailing us at gurus@sapien.com.
Downloads are where we store downloads associated with Don Jones’ and Jeffery Hicks’ books, as well as sample scripts from recent conferences.
Best Practices offer standardized advice for creating effective, readable, and maintainable scripts.
Updates
We add new content pretty often, although not on a strict schedule. You can subscribe to the RSS feed using the buttons on the right; the RSS feed contains our ten most recent scripts or explanations, so you’ll know when there’s new content to be had.
Questions? Comments?
If you’d like to discuss one of the scripts or articles you find here, please do so in the Discussion Zone, in the appropriate forum for whatever scripting language you’re working with.
Enjoy!
We hope you enjoy these essentials and find them to be useful in your scripting challenges!
